D&D 5E Todd Kendrick Interviews Jeremy Crawford: Fizban Dragon Subclasses and Dragonborn races

Spells gained like boons that have three levels of power? (basically upcasting).

Give a "dovakiin" a fighter class with half casting and shout spells (i tested using paladin chassis, it was okay).
if you want to be technical the voice has more in common with divine or psionic casting as it works purely on revelations not book learning and rarely on blood.

(despite actual Dragoons being some guys with guns).
Dragoons, specifically, is mounted infantry with guns. They didn't fight on horseback, but used the horses for superior mobility between battles.

They were named dragoons based on a type of guns some of them used.

The fantasy dragoon is hilariously misnamed.

I love that one of the 'compromises' was Feats, which they made optional AND also something you have to pick between VS the raw, applicable power of a +2 to your stats.

I meant more like "Unlocking your main feature (Dragon Shouts) by having to be taught them or find them written on giant Shout Walls, which recharge differently, and you can't use any of your Dragon Shouts while one Shout is recharging, and you also have separate features for your attacks and spells" being fairly incompatible with D&D 5e's current system.

Sure, but I think the concept of dragon shouts is pretty maleable. That makes it possible to adapt. Also, I think we will see some sort of "kill a dragon gain a perk" feature in Fizban's, so that could be a way to integrate them if you'd like to.

On a tangent from this tangent, I would like to see a Dragonslayer weapon that acts as a Vestige of Divergence (from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount), but it only unlocks its powers when you kill stronger and stronger dragons. (Like, it's nonmagical until you kill a Young Dragon, where it enters its Dormant state, but then becomes Awakened when you kill an Adult Dragon, and Exalted when you kill an Ancient or Great Wyrm Dragon.)
