ToH PC recommendations? (no spoilers please)

fireinthedust That's entirely reasonable. My point is about Tomb of Horrors specifically. Restricting a PC as being "over-powered" is a strange move for an adventure billed as the deadliest dungeon in D&D. Oh, and if she's a newish DM who hasn't seen a lot of 10th-22nd level play then she's in for a shock at how awesome 4e characters get.

Highest I've ever played was 7th level. How awesome are we talking?

And what do you recommend? I mean, ignoring my build concepts, do you have any builds I should consider?

I've only played up to 13th level, so I'm really no expert on high-level 4e, but I will say my limited experience in paragon tier showed me that a well-built PC is seriously a force to be feared. The deva orb-wizard (before dying in the final session) could force movement at the magnitude of 5 squares pretty regularly, and would push enemies in the druid's inescapable zones, where my ranger would snipe them from hiding. And we were very hard to challenge and nearly impossible to kill - the only death was the wizard at the campaign's conclusion.

I'm only familiar with the original Tomb of Horrors. Assuming the super-adventure is fairly similar, I'd go with an abjurer/diviner/lore wizard build focusing on anti-magic, wall spells, escape/teleport spells, high knowledge skills, and rituals of "DM wtf is going on here?" ;)

Yeah, one nice thing about the original, you could have the most OP'd character and it likely wouldn't matter too much. 4e PC's are much more resilient and without a lot of the originals insta-deaths the module has some of its teeth removed.

A new DM though will likely struggle with all the powers that the enemies get on top of trying to keep track of the PC's powers/triggers/etc. I might suggest that she at least try to run a short game ahead of time to at least get used to that side of the screen.
