Tokiwong's 3.5 Game: Chapter 1 (The Swarm)

Jalban stretches, shaking some dust off his cloak, and then searches around for a good campsite. Once he finds one, he offers to take watch in the middle of the night, when his eyes are the most helpful.

The night passes, as the first watch begins. Each party member in turn takes their turn, and although the cool breeze of the night is foreboding and the sounds of the wildlife, and rocks settling is somewhat disconcerting it passes with no event, outside of Lif’s somewhat loud snoring.

The morning comes, as the sun rises in the East over the rocky crags, and shines over the rocky landscape of Mount Arthrof, the party gathers their things, as Lif takes a look at the map, and then to Jalban, “Perhaps we should find the mine then, it looks like we are relatively close, perhaps the goblins took my companions there?” he points to the map.

The main trail is about 20 feet wide, the branch off trails are about ten feet wide, a party formation would be helpful, assume that Lif will be in the middle. He is not as adventurous as you folks. I assume Jason and Comet are in the rear, and Jalban is the lead scout, where is Bjorn, Drakor, and Kerrik in relation to everyone else.

After the refreshing night spent on the cold, hard ground, Kerrik gets up and immediately refreshes himself with a small cantrip that cleans himself and his clothes. It's good to be an arcanist, he thinks smugly.

Kerrik precedes Jason and Fireball, holding his loaded and cocked crossbow while a ferret dozes, wrapped around his neck. Okay, I'm ready to go. Let me know when we get really close to the mine so I can cast a quick conjuration.

OOC: Casts Prestigitation to clean himself.

Jason follows the party, leading the mule. As he walks along he does his best to keep an eye out for trouble from behind....other then the gas expelled by the mule that is....Well at least any goblins will first have to survive being subjected to this creatures stink before attacking....should take at least half the opposing force...

The Next Day’s Journey

With Jalban taking the point once again the party takes the smaller trail to the east towards the Iron Deposit that the dwarven party had set out to find. The party comes to a branching in the trails according to the map, they take the southeastern trail as opposed to the more northeastern path, and continue along the grade along the ten-foot wide path until they come into site of a low crudely constructed smithy.

The tools are old and rusted, and there is a crude forge, with many cracks, and broken tools around it. They are sized for smaller denizens and from Drakor’s and Lif’s knowledge are of goblin manufacture it seems. Ten feet behind the crude structure is a crude mine entrance that stands about five feet in height, and a yawning darkness from within.

Lif looks around, “I see no sign of goblins, do you Jalban?”

Jalban makes a Spot Check and gets a 15, opposed to a Hide Check of 4

Jalban notices lingering in the entranceway of the Mineshaft, a small rock-like figure about four feet in height, squat and vaguely humanoid, though easily blending with the rock around it by its own rocky composition. He sees it twist unnaturally as if looking around.

Jalban is the only one to notice the creature it is approximately ten feet from the party in the entranceway of the mine. Jalban is closest to it, with the standard party formation.

Jalban nudges the nearest party member (Drakor, probably) and points at the creature. He then lowers his bow and steps forward, calling out to the creature. "Come on out, little man. We're not here to hurt you."
