Some of the Surrogates are cool, others feel generic.

The Yuan-Ti Warlock of Ubtao (why does Ubtao have Warlocks instead of Clerics?) Which even weirder is Great Old Ones Pact.

Their is a Grung Assassin you can play.

A Tabaxi (Catfolk) Ranger.

An Utlthgart Barbarian slave who got lose from Frost Giants search for the Ring of Winter.

Goblin Batrachi Black Dragon Sorceror.

The rest are most just generic Chultans.

My guess would be that the reasoning behind the warlock pact is that Ubtao is in reality a primoridal just like Dendar the Night Serpent, so it also qualifies for pact of the old ones. But I agree that it doesn't really make sense. If you really want to go the warlock route with primordials they need to release a primordial or elemental pact option. Otherwise, I'm not sure why it just wouldnt be elemental cleric.

Yeah, Great Old Ones are supposed to be horrors from the Far Realms, but somehow Primordials can now offer them too.

Too be far Dendar and Telos already set the prescience, but they are both dark and weird so you could see them both Far Realms tainted, but Ubtao, that is a weird one.

Well, to be fair, the description of the Great old ones in the PHB quotes that your patron ''may'' come from the Far Realm, but can also be an elder, forgotten power or god, much like Ubtao who became a local god after he betrayed the primordial for the gods. Much like Kossuth, Imix or any of the elemental prince. I do agree that the GOO pact doesnt do a great job at reflecting the elemental chaos/entropic side of its potential patrons.

Judging from Volo's Guide to Monsters, Warlock is the class used for NPC "shamans" and "divine servants". Fire Newts can be Warlocks of Imix, for example. I guess it's a useful class - you don't really want Fire Newts turning Undead through the power of Imix, and the Warlock chassis is also a good one for NPCs (decent ranged damage, a handful of combat-only spells) to use.

I would say it's for servants of other entities than the divine.

In other words, just like you'd expect: if you have a demon Lord or elemental prince as your patrol, you're likely not a cleric or druid...

Alright so I saw that the stats for the characters aren't basic stat array, or I'm just miscalculating. But did they add a new array or is that just for the those characters?
