I don't know I always thought Primus would be a good GOO patron, and he is pretty far from a Far Realmer (although I vaguely remember in 4e something like him being a primordial that was infected by a different extrauniversal space, sort of a super-rational version of the Far Realm, but don't quote me on that).
I think the reason that yuan-ti "clerics" are warlocks is because of the weird relationship they have with their gods, at least some of whom are "sleeping", so it is more like a warlock stealing power from a patron then a god willingly giving a cleric power.
