'Tomb of Horrors' Inspired Class?

First Post
So there's this class I want to make.
It features daily attacks that, as a rider effect in addition to the attack, allow you to enter into a stance. As long as you remain in the stance, you gain a controllery aura-like effect.
In addition, the class would feature encounter powers that would gain additional rider effects when you are in a particular stance.

I posted some powers along those lines in another thread, but I was rather stumped for flavor so I just took inspiration for placeholder names from old adventure modules. I wonder if that would make an interesting flavor for a class though...

Stance of the Horror Tomb
Stance of the White Plume
Stance of the Barrier Peak
Stance of Tsojcanth's Cavern
Stance of the Assassin's Knot
Stance of Tamochan's Shrine
Stance of the Elemental Evil
Stance of the Spider Queen

Some dailies at different levels would do different attacks but grant the same stances.

Again, certain encounter powers would gain special rider effects when used with certain stances.
False Entry
200 Spikes
Green Devil Face
Three Chests
Guess what stance those go with.

What do you think? Would the mechanics described here go better with some other flavor? Or do you think the flavor and the mechanics I suggested here could make for an interesting class? What sort of role and power source could you see this in?

Without seeing the mechanics for the stances, it's hard to evaluate. From a purely flavor perspective, I'm not sure I understand what this class is all about. Are they a tomb robber type class with daily powers that are stances, allowing them to get past certain types of obstacles and/or traps? Are these stances instead offensive weapons that recreate the same sort of effect as those traps?

In theory, this could be interesting.

I don't know if this helps you at all, but now I'm inspired to have a class called the grognard, with the Nostalgia power source. All his magic abilities draw upon old stuff from previous editions.

:)

I intended it as the latter actually, but I like the tomb robber idea too.

Basically, I was thinking stuff like...

FOOBAR Placeholder
Daily. Stance, Weapon
Standard-Action
Ranged Weapon
Target: One creature.
Attack: Dexterity vs. AC
Hit: 2[W] + Dexterity modifier damage, and the target is weakened (save ends).
Effect: You enter the stance of the FOOBAR. As long as you remain in this stance, whenever a creature starts its turn adjacent to you, that creature becomes weakened until the end of turn.
