I do love the little condition sketches and how they each manage to tell a story with such economy of lines. Very reminiscent of some of the more whimsical art in the 1e DMG, for example.

I think that's by Richard Whitters.

And here's some more DiTerlizzi to admire. Such a simple use of color to evoke the depths below:
