Too Beautiful

Well, fantasy seems to be littered with good looking people, and I suppose the name of the genre says it all. But, has anyone ever desried to play someone who is hideously ugly, but very kind and probably more virtuous than all the good looking people?

Done it several times. One of my more recent characters was, in fact, a minotaur paladin (Dawnforge setting). And most of my characters are average looking unless there's a good reason for them to be stunningly handsome/beautiful/whatever.

Dunno why, but the urge to play one of the "beautiful people" just never really hit me the way it did some RPers.

A portrait of one of my current characters. He's a Frenzied Berserker/Paladin (of Freedom). Angry, but righteous, and possessed of a 20 chr. I'm sure he looks great to the women of his kind... to your average humanoid, it's certainly debateable.

My current Rogue/Wizard has a 5 charisma. Before y'all get ranty on me, I know charisma does not equal looks, but I figured if he was gonna be an ill tempered, foul mouthed, bad mannered, drunken lout....but always winds up doing the "right" thing in the end, just not always following the rules to get there...he might as well be ugly too. His face is hideously scarred from beating he recieved on the streets as a kid. He wears a black mask, trimmed with silver. Pretty fun character so far.

My group fits the stereotype. They've often declared such things as "group minimum 12 cha" or the like. Of course, they are more than willing to soak the occasional 8 cha if it results in more power. My group is pretty hack.

Why would I want to create an ugly PC? If I want that, I just need to look in the mirror.

It's a sloppy habit of thought I freely admit to having.
