I played a female Orc fighter with a half-orc son. In the GM's world, Orc were pretty much attacked on sight, so she constantly wore a helm to hide her features and and claimed to be a cursed fighter. Sometimes she couldn't help herself and she'd beat the tar out of anyone who talked about her "ugly, ugly" page boy.
I agree in 2nd and 3rd edition, Charisma is a constant dump stat and a lot of players with fighter PCs avoid using the charisma by staying the background during social situations. Hell, I see a lot of players even avoid a romance plot thown their way. It seems the class draws in a lot of people who don't have role-play as a focus. ... Go fig.
