One good thing that I've found about "Too Many" d20 products out there is that what one gamer see's as utter crap another see's as very useful...meaning that if you like d20 you're bound to find SOMETHING you're going to like.....there are millions of people out there and d20 comes in many many varieties...so esssentially everyone will like something and have fun !! thats what it is all about...FUN FUN FUN......

or is it money??:D (joking about the money)

I like have a wide selections of choices to spend my money on for my d20 goodness......

...

Ive given up on d20 companies...

Yeah sure there are lots of good stuff out there...
But there is just oo much of it to go thru
there is too much bland, boring and repetitive well how do i put this nicely...CRAP

So ill stick to official WotC Books and leave it at that...

[Impeesa] I like your Nintendo comparison

:D ;) :p :)

SSHHH don't say that in front of my Mom. She adores Buddy Holly!

me personally, I'm still a Led Zepplin fan. I wanted to be Jimmy Paige for a long time. :) Still do.

When I first saw that other companies were producing d20 books, I realised instantly that soon there would be so many d20 books in the market, that it would be purely insane to buy everything. At that moment I decided to buy only WotCs books, and only some exceptional pearls from the other producers. Also I never buy the modules, because I like to make up my own scenarios. I didn't even buy the E&A or HBGB, because I can create characters without their help.

Don't forget that those 545 products include stuff like play mats, screens, character sheets, free mini downloads that are sometimes just advertisements, cardboard chips and various other things that you wouldn't consider products if you were just thinking rulebooks and full adventures.

d20 has essentially become the entire roleplaying market. Is 545 products for the entire RPG market for 18 months sounding excessive to you?

It also includes a flurry of mini adventures that even if you miss out on the best of, you won't be missing anything. There are also a grunge of campaign settings out there. With a few exceptions (SSS comes to mind), getting specific stuff for a setting you are not playing is pointless. Further, there are stand-alone d20 games that fall in the same category.

Further still, there is a significant amount of overlap. Even if you do want, say, a d20 supers game, you really don't have many reasons to get more than one of the upcoming supers d20 games.
