Too many DM's! [stop the insanity]

Shapermc

First Post
I am in a 5 person gaming group (well there are 2 others rare members like 8 times a year they show up) and almost all of us are DM's. Arghhh! I want to Dm but were all taking turns and . . . Arghhh. The last group that I was in no one wanted to DM and I ended up doing it 90% of the time. They are all good DM's don't get me wrong (I think that I am as well) but I cant run my game untill, at the earliest, late feburary. I fing this strange. I have been in about 5 differend groups (ones that meet on a regular basis) in the last 10 or so years and this has NEVER been a problem.

Does anyone else game in this situation?

Well at lest the next game that we are setting up is a d20 modern :D I have been looking forward to this for a while. I don't think that I will ever get around to playing Darwin's World.

 ........... no

I wish I could play, but I am the only capable long term dm in the group.

I wish I had your problem. ;)

Have you suggested playing more times then you currently do? And then the alternate date being used for other dm's?

SD

Edit: Another idea is to co-dm something. Split the players into two parties that travel in the same world. You could game in different rooms, and have them run into each other. I have always wanted to try something like that.

I think that this would be really hard, considering that we have had a hard time getting together as it is.

yep. i'm in a group of 6 people, and all of us DM. (although there are only a couple who let it be known when they're 'itching' to run a game)

I do not think that I have ever heard or read that complaint before since it is usually the opposite dilemma. :D

I assume the reason that you are not splitting off from this group, gathering your own players, and DMing now is because you find them to be a very good group of players?

My advice is to enjoy the time you have now to prepare for your big chance in late February. Treat each week like you are DMing anyway. Prepare a full sessions worth of material each week from now until then. If you manage that, you may end up being the best DM of the bunch and they may ask you to do it for longer...

BTW Don't forget that you are the lucky one since you will begin running the whole show just before GM's Day! (March Fo(u)rth) :D

That, and do you have any Idea how hard it is to find a group in New Orleans, LA?

Admittedly, no. I do not know. But it is a fairly large city, is it not? Are you sure that you have tapped into the right sources? Nevertheless, that's not really the issue if you like the gang you play with now, so just be the best one of the bunch. :)

Just on a lark, edit your first post, so that you can change the subject/title line, and add [New Orleans] to it. Let's see how many folks from your area pop in and make themselves known... ;)
