Too much, too much, she's breakin' up, Cap'n!

Well, my GenCon loot is too large to bore everyone with, but let's just say I made good use of Titan Games' "buy one, get three program," their dollar table and Sunday's $5 each sale. Plus the 50% off booth whose name I cannot recall and a generous discount from Guardians of Order for running sessions of Game of Thrones D20. Contrary to popular opinion, I did not get a lot of free gaming loot, but what bit I did get was very cool.

My main areas of concentration though were:
* A few D20/D&D books with stuff I could throw right into a game, including the Mother of All Encounter Tables book, Demonic Lairs and Wondrous Items of Power.
* Game of Thrones D20. Two beautiful core books are sitting on my desk. I'm ready to rumble!
* Silver Age Sentinels. I think this weekend that I finally finished buying every supplement that has come out for SAS.
* Spycraft. I bought the GM screen and a book about building your own spy agency. James Bond anyone?
* Hunter the Reckoning. A few more Hunter titles for my sprawling mess of a collection. Anyone want to fight vampires?

Fight vampires? That depends on whether they are fearsome mythological type vampires or sissyfied, angst-ridden Goth vampire types.

I got some decent loot also, although not as much as last year. I finally got the Call of Cthulhu ccg starter packs, and I got an Arwen deck for the Lord of the Rings ccg (not that I intend to play LotR ccg, I just adore Arwen).

I got a free copy of Morrigan Press' "Atlantis: The Second Age" (because I drew the picture of the Succubus in it; Amanda was flattered because she was recognised before I was at their table), which looks like a pretty cool setting. I picked up a DVD of Lovecraft short-movies. I picked up another set of dice.

How did the interview with P. Adkinson go?

I came away with a bunch of neat swag, but not a whole bunch.

Picked up Peter Adkinson's Clout Fantasy. I like it, but Bob and Thormagni are rather indifferent about it. It's basically a CCG but with poker chips and a throwing mechanic.

I got all of the demo packs (4) for the City of Heroes CCG. That's gonna be a blast. It's a really fun and easy to learn game.

I got this years free mini from Wizards and it was a Dark Naga.

Picked up a copy of Iron Heroes.

Picked up the new OotS book and the Haley and Xykon buttons.

I wanted to get Expeditious Retreat Press' Monster Building book, but I ran out of funds.

All in all a great GenCon except I didn't get to see Vince any. :(

Well, I can't promise cummerbunds, capes and eastern European accents, but from the viewpoint of the sheep, all wolves look pretty intimidating. bwahahaha...

Funny you should mention it, but I was so tied up with my son and the loot-gathering Saturday that I completely blew my interview time. Didn't even realize it until about 6 p.m., at which point I went to the press room to apologize, but it was already closed.

Loot:

Drove up to Orner and Sons billiards and checked out my pool table that I will be buying. It looks VERY solid. It has 1" mix of Brazillian and Itallian diamond edged slate. Solid wood of some sort, but oak finish. Comes with 4 2-piece cues and a set of balls. Also has 20 grade pro cloth.

After that I drooled on the $8,000 and $12,000 tables.

Then I drove past gencon looking for a parking spot, then gave up and went to the Gamepreserve in Greenwood.

So, my loot is Pirate's Cove and Runebound 2.0. Game preserve is have a gencon double points special. So, my $100 purchase gave me 200 points. I now have 300 points which is $30 off of any RPG or boardgame.

Next year OG, next year we will get you to GenCon. :)

On a side note, I think Saturday was a spectacularly bad day to go to the show, unless you were already at a hotel. According to a story from an Indy news outlet (I forget which one) in addition to the 45,000 or so people in town for GenCon on Saturday, another 52,000 came to the Colts game that evening, 10,000 to the baseball game and about 8,000 to the women's basketball game at Conseco. So downtown Indy was absolutely buried trying to support more than 100,000 visitors that afternoon and evening. No wonder there was no parking.

But I do wonder why in the world they scheduled all this for the same time? Just crazy.
