Top 10 Reasons Why I Just Don't Care

Ladies and Gentlemen:

How many of you have failed to notice that this thread was categorized as "HUMOR"? How many of you saw that, and decided to treat it seriously anyway?

The humor tag does not give one free reign to say any old rude and condescending thing you desire. However, folks posting in a humor thread should have some expectation that they are not going to be taken entirely seriously.

Going forward, keep this in mind. If you are not in a mood to walk the tightrope between humor and rudeness, this probably isn't the thread for you.

I think your post makes for an excellent blog post, but I wish on this forum it would be locked immediately, as it does nothing but preach to the choir and increases the resentment between the fractions.
"Resentment between the fractions [sic]?"

Re-read that sentence, and tell me if that doesn't sound like the silliest, most overwrought thing you've ever read.

Some people like one thing. Others like another. So they're pigeonholed into "factions" over their preferences?

Please, get a grip.

And I kinda feel the same way. Please note, the thread he is parodying is called:

"Top Ten Reasons AD&D Is More Fun"

Sure. It's not a huge deal.
This is the real issue. It's a subtle point, but if the thread in question were called "Top Ten Reasons AD&D Is Fun" (note the lack of the "More"), the reaction would be quite different.

Al Qaeda clearly plays your edition, not mine!

:D

I don't like seafood. At all. Sometimes, the smell of seafood makes me a bit queasy. Should I be upset at the billions of people who like seafood? Should someone be mad at me because I don't like seafood?
YES! If you're going to post on these boards, it's a requirement. ;)

But you won't get any meaningful discussion here because everyone agrees that Greek seafood is better than all other seafoods.

Thanks for your concern, I have a grip. However, I do think you are blind to the amount of venom sometimes spewed in edition wars. For each edition, this site has one group of ardent supporters that will be up in arms if their favorite edition is attacked. Almost like philosophers with (verbal) clubs.

And if I may point to sigs that say: "I'm so sorry AD&D came to your house and shot your dog.", I don't feel that saying there is resentment for each others argument is a hyperbole. You may think of yourself as sufficiently mature, I don't think everyone is.

I do think edition wars are bad for this site as they divide people. So I don't like posts that encourage them. Honestly, I feel like John Stewart on Crossfire.

Apparently some folks here have a problem understanding the idea that humor threads should not be taken seriously.

We will now begin to assist. Take this thread too seriously, and expect a threadban. Take this thread as an excuse to say something really rude and nasty, expect a temp-ban from the site.
