Say now, that's mighty nice of you!

My pleasure :) In fact, I've greatly enjoyed the entire Visions line.

And I'm right with you on d20 past. I want that so badly I can taste it. I've been salivating over cracking the system open and making "Modern Visions" books, so I'm hoping it's straight into the SRD for that one.

Me too. The 96 page thing kind of worries me that they won't be able to do this project the justice it deserves, but I have a lot of faith in James Wyatt. I've always enjoyed his work. I'm especially looking forward to the Victorian era material to get a Victorian Horror campaign going again.

Fingers crosses that material from d20 Past ends up in the Modern SRD, or is declared Open right in the book....

In no particular order:

  • Grim Tales
  • Tome of Horrors II
  • World's Largest Dungeon
  • Book of Iron Might

I think Green Ronin's Book of Fiends just misses the one-year window or else it would certainly make my list.

Sadly, my copy of the Advanced Bestiary seems to be in Amazon limbo; I have a feeling it would otherwise make the list as well.

Iron Kingdoms Character Guide (I feel I worked on such a small portion of it it's okay to list here -- if not, pretend I wrote DragonMech).

*laugh*

You're a riot, Phil. No wonder Ari speaks so highly of you. ;)

edit #2: testament is really a great sourcebook. of the names on my top 5 list, it's the one that seems to get the least amount of press. it deserves better, imo.

Oh, I think it got plenty of press -- when it was first released. ;)

So, assuming we're sticking with 2004-only stuff, what else did you like?

I'm glad some people do! It makes up for those that say less than favorable things about me. :) Hell, you should hear how the people at Wan Fu (a place in Austin -- good pepper stead) talk when I leave!

Stuff that didn't make my list because I just bought them in the last 48 hours, and in one case I'm still reading, but nevertheless deserve mention as some of the year's best:

Blood and Spooks - RPGObjects
The Dryden: Hero or Horror - Ancient Awakenings Publications

In no particular order, because which one is my favorite depends on my mood and tastes at the moment, and approximating, because I can't remember exactly when a couple of these came out.

1. Ex Machina (Guardians of Order)
2. The Sidereals (White Wolf)
3. Dark Champions (HERO Games)
4. Angel (Eden)
5. Eberron Wizards of the Coast

Looking forward to:

1. The Black Company
2. Blue Rose
3. Normal, Texas
4. The new version of Mage
5. Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying

Wait, how much is considered "a small portion" because if its less than 10% I'd like to list The Quintessential Bard II as the best Quint Book of the year, followed closely by the Quint Druid II.

Definitely less than 10% for me (that was a 400-page book, after all).

My top 5 new products of 2004:

1. Dungeon.
2. Mesopotamia.
3. Judge Dredd: The Awakening.
4. Counter Collection Digital.
5. Mysteries of the Drow.

I'm looking forward to:

1. Dungeon.
2. Slavelords of Cydonia.

That's it, I'm afraid. I even read this whole thread to try to find something exciting, but I guess I'll just continue looking.
