TORG d6

hopeless

Adventurer
Have been trying to convert Torg to d6 fancying a game inspired by the d&d cartoon series but set in Aysle.
Anyone else ever thought of doing such a conversion?
Anyone have any comments on this?

Huge Torg fan, but never played d6. I've often thought about using the Torg engine for, well, pretty much everything else I've ever played, though. Have you been over to the West End Games forum? There is a pretty active d6 community there...

AH, d6..... *sniff*

A conversion should be pretty easy - grab d6 space, and highlight the character options you want to include that would seem suitably "torgish". Or, is Torg is fantasy? I've never played it.

d6 Fantasy looks pretty good, too.

In any case, they're good games, witha few minor points. I highly recommend using body points as opposed to the wound system, though.

TORG is...different...

The main story is that a bunch of different worlds have superimposed their "realities" onto Earth. So, you get an area, Aysle, which has taken over a chunk of Europe, and is essentially a classical fantasy realm. You have a gothic-horror reality (Orrosh), a 30s-pulp-era reality (Nile Empire), etc. You can play characters who are from the Core Earth reality, or are from one of the others.

I think one of the biggest challenges in converting TORG to the d6 system is what to do with the Drama Deck (a deck of cards that lets the DM, and the players, do different things during play)...some of the Drama Deck rules will need to be retooled.

Also, the basic TORG die-rolling mechanism is sort of logarithmic, and, IME, tends to reward the truly earth-shaking heroic action. Not sure exactly how you'd replicate that (if you want to) with d6...IME, that was one of the weaknesses in TORG, anyway...combat takes forever, until somebody gets a really good run of dice rolls.
