Tornado damage

Is it just me, or is the damage and save for getting in a tornado just silly? I'm sorry, but no human, regardless of how epic, can possibly naturally stand a tornado. Yet the rules propose that high level characters with a good Fortitude save could stand there with the winds blowing and not even get moved. Then when sucked into the tornado, the character (who probably also has good hp) will hardly flinch at the damage!

I think this is just wrong. I think survival rate when sucked into a tornado, in real life, is slightly lower than the chances of winning the lottery.

Honestly, I don't think there should be ANY save AT ALL, and the damage should be more like 20d6 per round for 1d10 rounds, with a 50% chance of staying in even longer. No human should be able to survive a tornado except by EXTREME luck.

Thoughts?

Welcome to the world of Fantasy! In DnD it's possible! It's probably more of a game balance issue.

But, yes, you are right, in reality it's very very slim to survive being sucked up into a tornado. DnD has no room for reality when comparing disasters like this.

Just take a look at the Control Weather spell... and you'll know why a tornado has to be puny damagewise.

Besides, it's epic fantasy even at non-epic levels. Ever fought a Balor here?
