(total frustration) There MUST be an Extra Feats Academy around somewhere here ...

(looks mighty frustrated)

Well ok, after searching through every book I have and the SRD, I've found you can gain 2 extra feats from flaws, in Unearthed Arcana.

But I've yet to find a way to augment your number of feats otherwise, by the rules. (The DM allowing extra feats as a Rule Zero is not an option here. Nor are gestalt characters an option.)

Ok, I'm down to this humorous question: Is there an Extra Feat Academy for Player Characters out there somewhere in Greyhawk, FR, Dragonlance, Eberron, or Kalamar?!

Or, is there some way to obtain extra feats I haven't thought of.

And by that, I don't mean multiclassing to obtain feats or special abilities allowed to classes. I mean, feats that you get to pick yourself.

Anyone?

Humans get an extra Feat at first level. So with what you have found plus being human. You could have 4 feats (5 if your a Fighter).

This thread discusses a possible "feat master" prestige class that grants one or more bonus feats every level. My own take on it (in post #16 of the thread) is as follows:

FEAT MASTER

Hit Dice: d4 hit dice
BAB progression: poor (as wizard)
Base save progression: all poor (as commoner)
Class skills: none (all skills are cross-class)
2+Int skill points per level.

Special abilities:
1. Bonus Feat
2. Bonus Feat, Prerequisite Bonus +2
3. Bonus Feat, Swap Feat.
4. Bonus Feat, Prerequisite Bonus +4
5. Floating Feat

Bonus Feat is self-explanatory.

Prerequisite Bonus: At 2nd level, the Feat Master's ability scores are considered 2 points higher for the purpose of meeting feat prerequisites only. For example, a 2nd-level Feat Master with a Dexterity of 11 may take the Dodge feat, which requires a minimum Dexterity of 13. This does not affect any other ability score dependent aspects of feats, e.g. the number of additional attacks of opportunity gained from Combat Reflexes would not change. At 4th level, the Feat Master's ability scores are considered 4 points higher for the purpose of meeting feat prerequisites.

Swap Feat: At any time that the Feat Master gains a new feat, including bonus feats from a class or prestige class, he may choose to lose one feat that he knows to gain another feat that he meets the prerequisites for. All the usual penalties for losing access to a feat apply, e.g. he may not be able to use other feats or prestige class abilities, if the feat lost was a prerequisite for the feat or prestige class.

Floating Feat: The Feat Master gains a "floating" feat slot that he can reassign once per day to any feat that he meets the prerequisites for. The Feat Master may only re-assign the feat slot when his mind is fresh, i.e. he must rest for the same amount of time that an arcane spellcaster needs to rest to replenish his spells. If he does not have sufficient rest, he is unable to re-assign the floating feat slot, but he does not lose access to the feat that he previously filled it with. If a Feat Master is a spellcaster, he may re-assign the feat slot prior to preparing spells.

It says the Feat Master comes from a source called the 3.5 Tower.
Who are they? Are they a d20 company?

If not, does WOTC or any d20 company recognize their rules as legitimate?

Races of Destiny.

Chameleon PrC.

At 2nd level they get a 'floating' bonus feat that they can reassign each day, as long as they meet whatever pre-reqs the feat they select has.

Outside of that, no, you're stuck to 1 per 3 levels, racial bonus feats, or feats from class abilities. That's the point - you're only supposed to have so many feats over the course of a character's career.

Hmm... at a given time. Now there's an idea... a character who is some kind of self-reincarnationist, living through one life, depositing his memories somewhere, then finding a way to strip himself back down to base and start all over again...

That sounds pretty powerful, this Floating Feat of the Chameleon PrC. And this one is officially recognized. Hmmm ...
It ain't all that. The Chameleon is a sort of uber-bard, sacrificing potency for extreme flexibility. Every day you wake up, you decide "What am I today? A mediocre fighter, a mediocre cleric, a mediocre rogue, or a mediocre wizard?" That's the gig.

(stops laughing finally)

That Feat Master thread is funny.
Everyone either thinks the Feat Master is incredibly overpowered, or incredibly underpowered. There is absolutely no in-between. :)

EDIT: Yes, ForceUser, but you could take 2 levels of chameleon, instead of 2 levels of fighter, and get a feat just like the fighter would ... and you can change that feat to anything you please, every single day. That sounds like a bargain to me, compared to taking two levels of fighter and getting a feat that is ... well ... a feat you're stuck with. :D

True, But the chameleon class has an entry requirement--the fighter does not.
