Sci Fi Wire talked to "Spider-Man" franchise director Sam Raimi who says Sony Pictures plans to make six films in total, and that he would consider helming all of them. Here's a clip:

"I've heard Amy Pascal [chairman of Sony's motion picture group] say she wants to make six Spider-Man pictures," Raimi said in an interview at the Saturn Awards in Los Angeles. "So I think she's a woman of her word. And if she says there'll be six, there'll be six. ... If they were to ask me, and if I felt as passionate as I feel now about the character and had this great hunger and desire to tell the story, which I really do now, you couldn't keep me away from it."

Raimi also talked about the Spider-Man 3 story and villain, played by Thomas Haden Church. For more on what he said, click here.

Interesting...if anything, that would give the possibility of doing a more classic Venom origin.

Of course, I'm not a big Venom fan, but hey...more Spidey is always good if the movies keep up the same quality. And if Raimi does stick with all of them, I think they can. :)

If only they would do six movies, ending with the Sinsister Six... (and f only they weren't hells bent on obliterating the villians instead of letting them get away to fght another day!)

It has never made sense to me, but killing off the main villan does seem to be a trend in Superhero movies.

'cause then you're justified in never talking about the guy again. :p

I'm a bit disappointed that there will be 6 movies. I guess I'm just too admiring of the 3-picture arc they've developed so far. Spidey 1-3 reminds me of the old Back to the Future films, in that they feel like a trilogy, and yet each movie stands alone as well (or should, I'm giving Spidey 3 the benefit of the doubt. :)) But 6 movies? I suppose they could start another trilogy, but that brings Star Wars fears bubbling to the surface...

I think they're hoping more along the lines of a continuing "James Bond" franchise...how long have they been making James Bond movies now?

Hmm... I thought after Spidey 2, Kirsten Dunst and/or Tobey Maguire had said that they weren't all that interested in doing anything after Spidey 3.

Knee Jerk Reaction...

You are correct, and to add to that...I do remember that Amy Pascal, chariman of Sony's motion picture group, previously told Rami, that SM 3 was the last one. I should know, I reported it as news. Now, this is a about face...why, cause Marvel announce last week the deal with Paramount, to make their own movies from now on.

So, how long is the movie license that will expire one day, when Sony cannot make any Spidey fics. After the fracas that went on, on who owed what, in profits, when Sony was giviing Marvel the run around, back then with the previous release SM films.

Rami might be all gun-ho to do it, but did anyone asked Toby and the rest of the cast, on what their plans are in the future?

All of this, is a knee-jerk reaction...that is the way it looks to me.

Sorry, if I burst the possible joyous bubble...for anyone. But this smells...fishy:uhoh:
