Touch of class at the Ennies

I thought the guy from Fear the Boot presenting the award for Podcast was extraordinarily classy and gracious. He deserves a heck of a lot of credit for helping put the unpleasantness in the past. And it was a smart move on the part of the Ennies folks to ask him, too.

Inquiring minds want to know: Did he hold the award a little longer and tighter that he should have when presenting it to the winners, rather than just give it over?

I agree. Dan Repperger showed extraordinary grace, and it was an honor to have him present the award.

He didn't use enough puns, though...

Dan is an awesome guy, and I loved his speech. It really reinvigorated me as a podcaster. And what a great voice!

I hung out with the Fear the Boot guys a bit during the con, and they are all class acts. Adam gave me a ton of congrats after the Dragonlance Nexus won the best fan site Ennie. BTW, kudos to Planewalker on their silver! Fantastic site, guys. :)

I also wanted to mention one other person with class, and that was Denise from the Ennies. I was torn between going to the Ennies and getting together with my Dragonlance friends (our only opportunity was that night!), and she sought me out at Margaret Weis Productions' booth. She asked me to be there, and I came because she put forth that sort of effort. I managed to find a compromise in my schedule, so I got to do both. Denise gave me a hug afterwards. She's a class act all the way, and a really sweet person. Denise, you rock.

So here's to Dan, Denise, and all the other great people who made the Ennies so cool this year. :)

Thank you much! We were having a blast over at the Hero Games (Thank you for the drinks!) table, and getting to watch everyone go up and accept awards. I'm glad we're in the company we are - Dragonlance Nexus rocks muchly - you guys earned gold.

LOL
I was getting nervous about how long he was talking- we had to be out of the hall by midnight! He held onto the microphone for awhile, but I guess that's what we get for getting a podcaster to present the award! I feel bad that I never got a chance to chat with him at the Con- maybe next year!

Note to self- budget for ninjas or sniper in case of future presenters going on too long (not a death threat)

All kidding aside, it was a great presentation Dan did, and I am truly thankful for his graciousness (and thanks, Jeramy, for brokering the arrangement!)

And Trampas- I'm really glad you managed to make it to the ceremony! It's a lovely venue, and for me, it's a forced 2.5 hours of sitting, drinking, and socializing- probably the most relaxed time many pros get to enjoy at the con!

Hey, Dex,
I had a great vantage point up in the booth; just purchase the rifle and the rounds and I can take care of the rest. :) Of course, a less lethal option, just get some Rhino tranquilizer darts for the sniper rifle, efficient and entertaining. Yeah, I got a little nervous about his speech too, at 5 minutes, I started sweating, especially since we got started a little late.

I wanted to give out a public thank you to Denise for her efforts on my behalf.
Privateer Press was a late comer to the Dream Date Auction and were not very prepared.

Denise made a point of standing up for me at the Privateer Booth that (as always) was very busy with all of the demo games and lines at the cash registers.

I did manage to buy her a drink just as the bar closed, but I wanted to thank her for making my GenCon just that much more special. I had a great time, and the event was very impressive.

Thanks again Denise, I appreciate it.

That was my bad. When I do a podcast, I'm staring at a sound wave that has a timer above it. You put me behind a mic without a visible clock, and I lose all sense of time. ;)

Anyway, I really do want to thank everyone here for the compliments. I also want to thank the ENnie folks for the opportunity to present that award. I was very grateful for the chance to address the RPG industry on behalf of the growing podcast community. It was also a very pleasant end to an ugly series of events neither side wanted in the first place.

So consider this a raised glass to all parties involved!

Changing subjects slightly, that was a breathtaking location. It's the only thing I took pictures of all weekend long. It's just begging for a Shakespearean play.
