Touch Tablets

I am skeptical about all these electronic thingies.

First thing : they are evoluting so fast that no standard is coming out from them, and your gadget is devalued the second you buy it. This is a problem for a game played in community.

Then, we all take it for granted in a time a abundance, except that with rising costs for oil (energy), electricity (energy) and plastic (components - derived from oil), the costs for production AND transport of this products to the consumer is going to rise.

the future might well be to play face to face games with books by candlelight.

Let's just hope that solutions are found to these logistical problems before they come to bite us in the eye.

BTW I wonder if the potential uses for tablet PC and eBooks for education have yet been fully realized.

Many Federal States in Germany provide pupils with education material in form of books and in higher classes even graphical calculators and stuff like that. But only a subset of each books content is actually used during a school year and even over the entire school "career". Having eReaders for the pupils with all education materials in digital form could be awesome! Especially since it also means that the pupils don't have to wear heavy satchels for all their books. (And boy, there were and are big and heavy books!) [/tangent]
Probably not but wont be until, they are pretty cheap say $200 or so and there is a clear standard format and a clear winner and I would say that the same applies to game usage.

Power need not be a real issue with these things, as they can be made so low power that they can be solar charged. If energy really becomes that big of an issue I think we will all have bigger problems than not being able to power our gaming pads.
