D&D 5E Toxicity in the Fandom

I dunno about that. Some of the worst is on Facebook, which is not anonymous, whereas a forum like this, which has far less problematic behaviour, used usernames. I think moderation and size are the two main things driving that.
Yes, there are decent groups on Facebook for actual discussion. The key is that they’re moderated.
It’s also why twitter is such a festering cesspit. Is it even really moderateable other than individuals blocking each other?

I do know people who complained, but their problems with how Disney handles the franchise go way deeper than just Rey. Basically, to them, everything was fine and perfect, they had the Expanded Universe, and nothing could go wrong (I still disagree about elements of the prequel trilogy, but what can you do).
Sure, I'm one of those people who complained about the latest Star Wars triology because I thought it was bad. It was so bad that it made the prequels better by comparison because at least Lucas managed to tell a cohesive story. In my book, it's perfectly okay to criticize or even dislike something because neither one of those is toxic in and of itself.

That's a valid point. There have been a few occasions where the garbage someone posted on their Facebook page has made waves at work.

but you must admit the hatred of the actors, harassment and bigotry were uncalled for and are sickening.
It must be rough to be an old school Paladin. "I could detect for evil, but I'm not sure I want to."
I would not be surprised if many went off the deep end just because of that ability.

Yes, you can "curate" your feed, and just reinforce the echo chamber + whatever agenda twitter wants to promote through its algorithm that week.

I think the sequel trilogy was bad or 2/3 of them were.

The rest has been very good generally Book of Boba Fett bit disappointing.

They generally bhsvent hit the heights of the best if legends but that was over a 29 year period for most of it (andd some really old OG stuff).

They also haven't hit the depths of the bad legends stuff. More creative though.

the sequel trilogy was too rushed and took some of the wrong lessons from the original and prequel trilogy and had incompatible criteria that should have been sorted out in pre-production, the lack of a singular director did not help.
but given some of the hate is just utter bigotry I would rather side with the people who like it as the other side is infested with people who make Orcus look fun at parties and Orcus can never be fun at parties.

And this is the goal.

Vilify the 'other', so that you can simply point to critic's as hateful.
