What's not civil about chihuahua evil? I could say monolithic evil, but chihuahua saves me a letter and has one less syllable. And it's a more evocative image.

You can talk about non-rules related crap like that all you want. However, your quote here is not talking about alignment, or rules, or anything concerning the game. It's a personal dig which has nothing to do with rules.

KarinsDad is haunted by the specter of chihuahua evil. We should all pity and sympathize with him.

Inferior roleplaying. I guess using the term inferior roleplaying is different than saying poor roleplaying. I guess by saying inferior roleplaying it somehow isn't a put-down (which IIRC is against the board rules) like it would be had you used the words poor roleplaying.

I also said "often", not always. It is only inferior roleplaying if it is against character nature (as I stated). I was not discussing the case of when it is in character nature.

If we are going to be precise here about what I wrote, let's be precise.


You don't get to state that I stated anything other than what I stated, anymore than shilsen does. It is not a "put-down" if I state that doing out of character actions is inferior roleplaying. A Paladin torturing for information is typically an out of character action and is inferior roleplaying. That is not a put-down. That is an opinion.

Strangely, I thought it was quite funny too

I like my chars and NPCs grey. Not black and white alignments as typical for fantasy (literature book definition of fantasy literature) but grey with darker shades and lighter spots.

Now I think about playing a chihuahua evil dude. Gnoll dogface, tiny size, opting to kill his comrades for a big bone.

Damn - now I'm going to have to stat one out! My PCs have had a bad time with gnolls, so now I should have a bunch of naturally small gnolls to add to the pain. In memory of KarinsDad's conception of evil, like you described, I'll even make them incapable of working in a group, so that the gnolls will carry them around individually in cages, let them out at the PCs and run like hell.

Somehow I can imagine the PCs waking up in the middle of hundreds of dead chihuahua gnolls that killed themselves during the night
