Trading Spaces & American Chopper

I can't stand Trading Spaces.

Trading Spaces is about to drive me to drink.

How many times can you see neighbors re-do each others rooms?

The only time I watch this show is when my sister (who wants to go into inerior design) has it on. I'm much more content to watch something like Mail Call or Mythbusters. Something that you know changes week to week or is entertaining and educational. The only redeeming thing about Trading Spaces is the one designer that has a southern accent and curly reddish brown hair. She's kinda hot and I would like her to come and redocorate my room.

I've watched American Chopper twice and it's not really my cup of tea. The editors must cut that show in such a way that it becomes predictible episode after episode. I've got enough dysfuntional in my family that I don't need a surly motorcycle customizer and his sons in my life right now.

The payoff os when the homeowner totally hates the room once it's revealed. Swearing, tears, broken friendships; that's when Trading Spaces really gets good.

"Trading Spaces" was trumped by "While You Were Out", which has now been surpassed by "In a Fix". Nothing beats an Aussie Carpenter shouting out "She's a beaut!".

...and besides Amy Wynn & Leslie Segrete (lovely as they are) just aren't in the same league as the lovely Jenn-ie (as pronounced by Forrest Gump).

:D

That being said, Mythbusters is the best show on the network bar none.

American Chopper is fun, though a bit predictable after a few episodes. Needs better editing, IMHO.

The only fix-it type show I watch is In a Fix. I agree with those who say it's all about the personalities, and In a Fix capitalizes on that by having some pretty colourful builders combined with strict control over how much camera time the homeowners get - lots if they're goofy, very little if they're boring. Still, I generally liked TLC better when it was "all dinosaurs, all the time!"

I dunno if the Discovery/TLC schedule is the same in Canada as in the US, but the show I'm liking these days is Spymaster which just started up here.

That hardly ever happens. The one that I saw with the wall of records, that TLC actually did an aftermath show on and they did not seem to hate the folks who did it. They just got the neighborhood together and took the thing down in like 45 minutes IIRC. There are just people out there that do not need to be interior designers. The one who did the wall of records is one of them.

I wince. I take it this doesn't mean the same in the US as it does in the anglophone world? Otherwise, it'd be very...

grandmother unsafe.

Really? Wow!

A chopper is a kind of motorcycle here.
