Kind of reminds me of Stephen King's book Cell. I hope Shyamalam avoids anymore twist endings. It's getting tired and he should just concentrate on the storytelling.

Interesting trailer. And you are right on both counts...very similar to Cell and the twist endings are why I stopped watching M Night's movies.

I don't think there's anything wrong with twist endings. It's just that he seems to have stopped doing them well. If it's a good twist ending, I have no problem with it.

His "twist ending" of The Village still makes me mumble and moan to this day, hopefully it won't be the same with this one.

The plot premise sounds... slightly odd to say the least: "The Happening is a paranormal thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. The film will portray the earth's plants unleashing airborne neurotoxins that cause only people living in the US to commit violent suicide. Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel star as an estranged couple who must escape this apocalyptic epidemic."

It's a metaphor...
The trees and plants are all suicidal and are annoyed by the increase in Environmental focus in the US (ha ha ha). They just want to die but mankind won't let them. So they had to take matters into their own roots. And the trees seem to whisper, "Die AL Gore Die". All plants are from Melnibone.
