[Trailer] The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor

*sigh* Ah well. Can't really blame her... once you get past the sequel, further movies in a franchise can start to get a bit risky.

I just hope The Rock isn't in this movie. Glad he only had a bit part in Mummy 2, but Scorpion King I thought was horrible.

ANYWAY, I like what I see in the trailer. Definitely looks to be entertaining.

I think I'm one of the only people who actually liked The Scorpion King. I have no idea why -- I watched it only because I had nothing better to do, and it was on, and I expected to hate it. But for some reason, I just enjoyed it. I don't think of it as part of the Mummy series, though, not really. I guess if it's not chock full of Brendan Fraser, it doesn't count?

Well, it kinda counts. It's a spinoff of the Mummy, since the Scorpion King was one of the villains in the Mummy 2 and if you buy the Mummy pack dvd set, the Scorpion King IS one of the movies in the pack.

Oh yeah, I know it's a spinoff. All I meant was that I tend to think of it separately -- I don't judge it by the same criteria that I use to judge The Mummy and The Mummy Returns.

Am I right in thinking that their kid's all grown up (or mostly grown up) and that's that other guy in the trailer besides Jonathan?

Yep, I bet they even got one of those, "Walk away from explosion and don't look back" scenes too!
Not that I remembered.
In fact, they had a cool "We just got blown up and damn my balls hurt!" scenes. :D

We just attened a test screening for this movie (they said it was the first time the film has been shown anywhere), and I can answer questions, if anyone has any. The effects, etc weren't all finished, but everything else seemed complete (even though many areas could be improved IMO).

That is their son, Alex, and the replacement Rachel does get in the way of the enjoyment of the film.

Overall, it was better than The Mummy Returns.

OK, a couple of questions spring to miind:

What is the actual working definition of "mummy" in these movies?

How many movies is this since Jet Li's "final" film, Fearless?

How is the son? You mention that the Rachel Weisz substitute detracts (and I think that'd be the case for me no matter who they cast) but is the son okay? He has the potential to be good, I think, but it's impossible to tell whether that's the case or if he's as annoying as he was in Returns.
