Transporting Orbs

I've never run into one that didn't appreciate a good dick joke.

LOL. I never claimed I wasn't just as sophomoric as the next person. I was just pointing out that the phallic implications were not originally intended as jokes or expected to generate them.

I can't wait untill my first 4ed wizard drops his orb and the damn thing rolls away in the dungeon and/or:

Falls of a precipice
Falls through a grate,
Falls into a sewer,
Bounces down some stairs
Gets knocked away like a croquet ball.

Seriously, what a pain in the ass carrying an orb around. At least a wand or staff or tome is large enough to ba stable and not roll away when dropped, and easy to store. What do you do with an orb? Keep it in your pocket? Thats assuming they are cue ball sized. If htey are small (like marbles) then you can put them on a chain, but what if they are large (like a crystal ball)? Can you imagine lugging a basketball sized scrying orb with you through a dungeon? :]
I doubt they'll be so large that they're physically unwieldy.

How often do magic items actually get damaged in the average campaign? I suspect very rarely for most folks. I don't see potion bottles rolling away or shattering every time a character falls down. I don't see wands getting sundered. I don't see tomes burning up every time a character's hit by a fireball. I don't see fragile familiars dropping like flies. And I don't see how orbs add anything new to the equation.
