Traps and Wards (Erekose 13 Judging) [Concluding]

Guardian looks up at Samarik, seeing that he is having difficulty with the spikes at the top of the wall. He calls up to him, "Perhaps if you tied some rope to the spikes we could bend or break them from down here. If that doesn't work, we could attempt to use something as leverage and try to pry a section of them off the top of the wall. If all else fails, we could try to break them off by striking them with weapons. Do you have a preference Samarik?"

OOC: I'm back, sorry for my extended absence. A quick question about getting over the spikes. Are they simply impassible? Or would someone just suffer damage by climbing over them? If the latter, Guardian will volunteer to climb the rope and lay over the spikes so that Samarik can climb over freely.

The spikes effect the DC of the climb check, and it's not possible to fasten a rope above them. Guardian doesn't think impaling himself on a spike would help much, and even his adamantine frame would probably be severely damaged by such an act.

On a more positive note, any of Guardians three verbal suggestions seem likely to work.

Fritz can be seen pondering the obstacle at hand.

ooc: this is just a 'check in post'. Im still alive and interested in this game, I just dont think Fritz has anything to add to the solution of this obstacle so Ive been quiet.

OOC: I think penance is still out for the holidays. As it was originally his idea to climb the wall, I'd like to wait for him to chime in and keep the spotlight.

the druid suddenly takes an aloof expression on his face and lays down staring up at the sky. his wolf curls down beside him. "i find that if i just remain patient a solution usually presents itself to ost problems, hopefully this is the case here" he mentions

ooc: well, thank you IcyCool. :) I am back and in the game, so lets get this going!

Samarik studies the spikes carefully. "Well, you're probably correct, Guardian; I won't be able to scale that until we break some of those spikes off. I think I could try prying at the railing; my guisarme is made of the studiest wood I could find, so I think it would work."

ooc: my first roll is a whopping 8; I don't know what modifiers you want to apply to that. my second roll (if you'll allow it) is a more modest 14. Do you need more than that? (I 'think' my str mod is +3, but I would have to check. :P)

Samarik wedges his guisarme under the railing an begins yanking at it. His first couple of attempts to yank the railing off the roof through shere strength are unsuccesfully. It's pretty solidly built, and it may require a more concerted effort to break with a strength check. (DC 28 to burst, bonus from guisarme as if it were a crowbar. Taking 20 is possible.)

A strange noise can be heard from the other sider of the wall. It sounds like "Arr..*click* *click* OOOOOOOO! ArrrOOOOOO! Arr..*click* *click* OOOOOOOO!" It would appear that your efforts have been noticed.

Guardian watches the spikes as Samarik tries his glaive. "It looks like you almost had them. Perhaps the application of more force may be necessary? If you tie a rope on those spikes, we could bring our collective strength to bear. And what is that odd noise?"

his eyes flaring open, fearalan is on his feet in a split second. hand on his scimitar. the wolf jumps up equally fast, "what was that?" he speaks
