ooc: I make checks such as spot, listen, and search where you don't know if you didn't find anything due to a low roll or there simply being nothing to find. You make most checks, including open lock. As I recall, using a grappling hook is a use rope check... you can certainly roll those. Are you trying to catch the top of the wall directly, or the iron railing on top of that?

ooc: well, it depends. Are the spikes straight up, from the top of the wall? or on the side sticking out? basically, I'm trying to place the hook the best way to climb the wall. as far as use rope..... I might have to take a 20 on that. (unless a 10 would do it?)

fearalan is totally without a clue as to why people from the city would waste their time building such things, which he knows will soon be ravaged by the fury of time.
however seeing as how he decided to come along and aid the group he decides to have a look around the area for anything that might help them get over the wall.

The spikes are at a 45 degree angle moving up and out from the wall.

Rethlin strings his longbow, notches an arrow, and starts looking around both inside the gate and outside behind us.

"Stay alert everyone, anything could happen."

OOC: +5 is a pretty decent climb check, go for it penance. We should probably send the Artificier over next to see if he can unlock the gate.

Guardian looks at Samarik and says, "Perhaps before we climb we should examine the entire perimeter of the estate to see if there is an easier, or less obvious point of entry."

"Well.... that would make sense; if there was a back door or a servant entrance, that might be easier to get through."

Samarik looks very indecisive. "Well, how about this; I'll continue trying to scale this wall, while some of the others run to both ends of this wall. Yell back what you see, but stay within sight. We don't want to get split up."

He ties knots into the rope before giving it his best try (20) to attach the grappling hook to the metal spikes.

ooc:If it hooks on, he's going to take a 10 (for 15) to get on top of the unspiked part of the wall.

"I am happy to do some scouting. I shall return shortly." Rethlin replies as he jogs off clockwise around the wall looking for other gates and other entrances into the building.

Searching around the area, the party concludes that the wall goes all the way around the manor, and there seems to be a 60 foot gap between the wall and the manor itself. You see no other entrances.

ooc: Busy packing tonight. If the internet gods smile, I should be able to do an update tomorrow after the first leg of my trip is complete.

giving the rope a forlorn look, fearalan glances down at his friend kordo the wolf. wondering to himself how he would manage to get the wolf across the barrier. turning to guardian he ask timidly "...umm excuse me.....but could you perhaps....aid my companion here... i am not that skilled a rope climber."

ooc - i will just take a 10 on the rope climbing myself unless no one wants to help with the wolf
