Ok,
...I originally went to post this a day, or so, ago, yet somehow my ability to access ENWorld died at the moment I hit 'Submit Reply' - heck, I even got a spell check in first.
So, I say again and not in the manner I first did it, here goes nothing.
I've purchased Traveller d20 twice now, once with the pre-order and again at my FLGS (Dark Horse in Boise Idaho).
This was done for two reasons, one so that I could have a copy of the game for myself, and once again so that I could give a copy to my friend Bill, since he's a Traveller fan from 'back in the day'.
He's such an OT, 'Original Traveller" to coin the phrase, that he wrote an article, in 'Gaming Digest', about 'Spicing Up Brawling' and a planet in the Massilia Sector, Hezeltine (MS2324), is named for his last name.
Eh, it's all cool as I was never much into Traveller when I started gaming, back when I was six years old, however that has changed over the past few years, a lot, because of Bill.
Up until Traveller d20 I had only found one version of Traveller I could get into, GURPS Traveller (which was the first GURPS thing I liked, prior to Transhuman Space), but all in all I'm enjoying it.
The layout is pretty solid, which to me was worth the wait alone for a book I pre-order some months back - I'm patient for things that seem to be worth the time of being patient.
The art is solid, very 'Traveller' and it's a nice, core rule book - in fact you really wouldn't have to, in my opinion, play Traveller with it at all. You could adapt anything your mind can think of for it, such as the TV show Firefly.
I'm kinda hoping, wishing, Gateway was already released (I think it's the first, or default, setting for Traveller d20) so that I could have more data to play with, as I'm a resource/background junky.
Fortunately I have the main website,
www.travellerrpg.com , as a resource, as well as my own imagination.
One would almost surmise that Traveller d20 is, to Sci-Fi, what the D&D Core Rules books are to Fantasy and, at least as far as WotC is concerned, d20 Modern is for Contemporary Settings (Spycraft aside, as there ain't no touching perfection

).
Anyhow, obviously I like Traveller d20 as the book is lovely and, for once, I've seen a d20 setting that replaces, in many ways, Alternity.
It's good, it's balanced, and it's well worked out by those involved.
I might not, yet, have my pre-order copy, but like I said, I'm patient for things worth being patient for.
Nice Job on the Book Guys!
