Travelling DMs: What do you tote your game in?

Until last session it was a backpack stuffed full with a big binder and a bunch of books. Since going "on the road," I've tried to reduce the number of books I use per session so I don't have to carry any more. But last session I tried my laptop with DM Genie and the hypertext SRD and it worked beautifully. It was easy and I've dropped a solid ten pounds as a bonus. :)

I ussaly bring a backpack with one or 2 books that are not on the SRD and I just bring a Labtop with Wireless internet.

So, they make these duffel bags. I got mine at Costco, but they are available at other places too. It cost me 30 bucks.

They are the size of a hockey bag (is my Canuckitude showing?) and have the following means of conveyance:

1) Standard duffel bag handles
2) Backpack straps (that are normally enclosed within a zipped cover)
3) Extendable handle/wheels (!) like a suitcase

I find that I can get a BattleHive miniature box, 7 hardcovers, 3 binders, and enough food and drink for a fat guy for snacks and two meals into that thing. And if the ground is relatively level I can pull it on its wheels most of the way.

(I judge RPGA events frequently, at various locations around town, and use public transit to get there, so I need to have my whole set of gear transportable.)

My favorite is a milk crate. They are cheap (free), rugged and everything doesn't get banged up or smushed like in a backpack. It even has handles for convenient carrying. As an added bonus the crate can be used as a seat when waiting in line for badge pickup at the con.

So you saw through that already? Guess we'll just have to make amends by working on that campaign setting based around Dinosaurs with lightsabers.
Is that ninja pirate Dinosaurs with lightsabres?

I use a LowePro rucksack which is actually intended for a laptop, but for gaming I have dice, Pocket Players Handbook, sometimes the MM or ToHII but more usually a sheet I've listed stuff on for the possible encounters, any adventure I'm using, Notepad, paper and character sheets, DM screen, very rarely a DMG and any setting info I need. I do tend to be a minimalist DM though.

I have a Targus laptop backpack... trying to put whatever possible on the laptop, plus some notebooks, a few essential hardcopy books, pencils, paper, and dice.
