The Other Librarian said:I really enjoyed that series. What else has GAE written? Anything as good?
I've only read a couple of the other things he's done. I've read, The Zork Chronicles, which is hilarious if you played the Zork computer games. Also he worked with Jack Chalker and Mike Resnick on a round-robin novel called The Red Tape War, which is one of the more unique books I've ever seen. One author writes a chapter, then sends the manuscript to the next author, who writes the next chapter with the intent of writing the next author into a corner. Fun stuff.
Effinger has something like nine Hugo or Nebula awards or nominations to his credit, so I expect many of his things are good.

Not really. I think the author and popularity have more to do with it than age. I've got scads of Larry Niven and Heinlein and Asimov on my shelves dating back to the 60s, but I know are still available. But the Effinger from 1992 is out of print.
