Trepanation!

That's the first time I ever heard Delta Green agents described as "privileged".

Unlike "ordinary citizens", DG agents are accountable to their superiors.

Again, DG agents aren't defined by what privileges they might have, but what they will loose while working for the conspiracy.

Oh for God's sake. You're right.

Delta Green IS HARDER on the PCs. It's a constant, terrible struggle to stay above water, out of trouble and appear normal enough to keep your life together. There's all kinds of trouble an agent could get into if he pokes his nose in the wrong place or wrong person's house, attracting all kinds of questions he'll have to answer.

Happy now?

Okay... so the guy is a regular pot smoker. He stops smoking pot, gives up drinking caffiene, and shortly thereafter has one of his friends drill a hole through his head with a Dremel tool. After the initial excitment wears off, he goes back to drinking caffiene and smoking pot, only to find that the benefits of trepanning are sadly temporary.

Somehow I don't think the new hole in his head had anything to do with that general increase in mental energy and alertness.

Yah, i read that site 2+ years ago. Doesn't change the fact that many people believe in its effectiveness. We're just trying to determine a game use for trepanation, and the concern for its basis in reality is small towards this end.

Yup. They know of the consequences (well, the veterans do), and yet they do it anyway.

That's heroic.

Ahh, Virgil's just being pissy. Let's look at it this way--if he declines to purchase Countdown (which I also own, and it's one of my most prized possessions), that's just one more copy out there for someone who'll appreciate it. One even gets the feeling that Virgil's being contrary just for the sake of being contrary--it's obvious he's never read the book, and he likely won't, so why even make a comment other than to rile those of us who like it?

Regarding the topic of the post: The movie Session 9 might be something to put on your list of movies to watch. The less you know about the movie going in, the more fun it is when the poo hits the spinning blades.

Cue music to the Rolling Stones' I Can't Get No Satisfaction:

I can't get no trepanation
I can't get no trepanation
But I try
Yeah, I try
I can't get no
Trepanation

I'd just like say, that it annoyed me a bit that he was right. I'm not being contrary.
Still doesn't make me interested in DG as DG though. Just not my kinda thing.

It's fine that it's not your thang, but cripes--why double-barrel the rest of us--some who've never read the darn book--with your negativity?

I'm not looking to be your best friend or something, but I'd like to appreciate your opinion without you cramming it down MY throat, especially as I disagree with you and think that DG and DG:C are two of the best books (of any kind) I've ever read, period.

And if I annoyed you, I can't say I'm crying after all your unfriendly posts.
