Trimountaine Defenders

OOC Thread

Background:
Eight years ago the city of Trimountaine was a cesspool of crime and corruption. Then ShadowGal arrived. This unknown hero, with the resident Trimountaine Defenders, cleaned up the city. No longer were citizens afraid to walk alone at night. Businesses, investments and hope came back. The city was now considered one of the safest in the country.
But it has been three years since the latest serious violent crime. The Defenders were spending more time at parades and student assemblies then at crime fighting. ShadowGal tried to continue, but she was no longer finding Trimountaine defenders fulfilling. Then last week, when a super villain killed 26 people in nearby Megalopolis, ShadowGal had enough. She announced to the Trimountaine Defenders that she was moving on. She packed up her few belongings and left.

In the early morning hours a phone rings. A man enters, every step of his perfect black shoes echoing in the ornately decorated hallway. His walk is very formal, with his back perfectly straight and head aligned properly. His perfectly manicured hand picks up the black antique-looking phone and brings it to his ear.

"Schloß Verblüffen, Lucien Galtier speaking."

A very tentative voice replies, "Um...ya...hi. Can I speak to Baron please?"

Lucien's eyes involuntarily roll up. He didn't need to be told who was on the phone. It was Duane Keller a.k.a. Ice Cream Man. Only he would be so oblivious about the time.

"Do you realize what time it is?"
"Um, oh...Can I talk to him anyway? It's kinda important."
"One moment."

Lucien puts Duane on hold and calls down to Victor.

"Herr Baron, Duane Keller is on the phone. He claims it is 'kinda important'."

The baron rubbed the sleep from his eyes. "Very well, Lucien. I shall take the call."

Victor picked up the nearest telephone, "Hello Duane. What makes you call so early this morning?"

 

[Professor Fosfoor]

I think it would be fairly standard operating procedure for Adam to trace the location of the call.

Duane breathes in, and then continues.

"I'm sorry Baron, I thought you'd be up by now. I've waited for a couple hours....but I thought you should know...

The morning paper...it has a story...people have noticed ShadowGal in Megalopolis. They don't know that it's her yet, but it's her...

Well...um....you wanted to know...if she was spotted...you know...in case...um...crime and stuff.

[sblock]It's from Duane's cell phone, so it's a little easier to track. He is in front of the Trimountaine Tribune, the legitimate paper of the city. [/sblock]

Duane breathes in, and then continues.

"I'm sorry Baron, I thought you'd be up by now. I've waited for a couple hours....but I thought you should know...

Well...um....you wanted to know...if she was spotted...you know...in case...um...crime and stuff.

"Danke Shoen, Duane. It would've been quite a while before I read the paper myself. I suspect we'll have a few days before anything comes of the information. If anything does at all. Keep up the good work."

"Why thank you Baron. Just doing what I can for the team.

About that...I've been thinking. I know that ShadowGal said I was most helpful as crowd control during our public battles. But, with us being down one team mate, I think I'd be more helpful in the fight."

"Well, Duane, we still need someone to perform crowd control duties. If you're not doing it, some civilian might get hurt in the melee. No one wants that to happen. You have a very important job, and you perform it very well."

 

[Professor Fosfoor]

The glass top on the telephone table discreetly flashes once, and then the following text is displayed on it:

FYI: Ice Cream Man is calling from in front of the Trimountaine Tribune
My $0.02: He might respond well to a more...active role in investigating. Such as tracking down ShadowGal sightings and such...
