Tripping with the Guisarme.

trip attempt, the guisarme can be dropped to avoid being tripped."

Since you are tripping with a 2handed weapon are you aslo allowed to use your Str Bonus x 1.5 for your trip check?

I was considering going the Improved Trip route but from what I can see the only way to be any good at Trip is to have a really high Str score and more often than not you are only going to have a very small advantage against most opponents as they get to pick from the best of Str or Dex to avoid being tripped.

Well, Tripping requires a mere touch attack, followed by a successful STRENGTH check.

You could house-rule that using two-handed weapons you'd get greater leverage, and therefore x1.5 Str modifier.

But by the rules, Strength check is all you get, +4 if you are stable, +4 if you are larger than the defendant. Of course you could always get yourself a Sweeping weapon (from MaF), which IIRC grants you +4 further for your trip attack.

The big disadvantage is that you need quickdraw incase you get counter-tripped, (as, unless you are an idiot, you drop your weapon rather than going prone). Even possession of the Improved Trip feat does not prevent the opponent from attempting to counter-trip you. Seems like there is a need for a "Greater Tripping" feat, which would prevent enemies from trying to counter-trip on a failed trip

You don't really need Quickdraw until you have more than one attack around. I still think the main draw back is you are very unlikely to succeed, at least unless you only trip small clerics.
