Trolls: impossible to kill without fire or acid?

Acid seems to be the most popular choice, since there are fewer immunities/ resistances to it, and now there's another reason.

With dragonborn being so well adapted for 5 classes, plus being the "cool new critter" of 4E, I'm guessing most parties will have one.

IIRC, you couldn't hold your breath if choked. You could only hold your breath if you were "ready" for it.

Unfortunately to really un-nerf Trolls you'd have to wipe every D&D player's mind as to their vulnerabilities...

Played in a 2e game of barbarian dwarves where we fought trolls. And peed on them to keep them from regenerating (pee is slightly acidic).

I once had a Wizard who drowned in 18 seconds, which is total bs from any kind of realistic perspective. >_<

If you gasp when you hit the water, you can easily drown in just a few seconds. It happens when you unexpectedly go underwater.

Personally, I never felt an average commoner living in world populated with magic and lethal creatures wouldn't know how to dispatch your common troll. I mean, I never served in the military, but I know tanks are armored and that people wear body armor so armor piercing rounds should be used against such targets. At worst, a minimal Knowledge Monster check should reveal such a necessity in dispatching such a creature.

DC 15 Nature check to know that Trolls are killed only by fire or acid. It's in the MM.
