Screw the troll, turn to MM5 and feast your eyes on the bladerager troll. Same ECL of 11, but better stats overall.

how about a feral half-red dragon bladerager for ECL 15? i think one of those with 15 levels of warblade and a ring of acid resistance would scare most folk senseless. especially if HD act the same way levels do, for determining the warblade's initiator level.

I am little leery about taking too much LA, since that makes you quite vulnerable to HD-based effects such as blasphemy and lv-drain.

That said, I do think templates have a use in epic lvs, since you no longer get full bab from class lvs, so str boosts become much more useful.

Or what about that wartroll in MM3? ECL of 18, so you have 12 class lvs to play around. Monstrous humanoid HD isn't that bad either. Perhaps throw in the voidmind template, so you can have a voidmind wartroll warblade9. With an IL of 15, this gives you up to 8th lv maneuvers.
