I don't think comparing Jack to the evil leapers from QL is exactly the correct comparison. I don't think Jack is evil exactly. I think Jack is just another person like Tru, but he just has a different outlook on death. Unlike Tru he doesn't feel that death is wrong. I do think he and Tru will come into conflict, but I hope it doesn't boil down to some over the top fight between the two of them.
From what I have seen, his "reliving days" is more of a curse to him. I wonder if he too did started out trying to save someone but failed.

Ya, I really would like to get more of Jack's History. He did self commit himself for a while, so it's not like he was having dead people talk to him.

He isn't alway with the bodies

I think the most relevant point in dealing with Jack is that if I remember he isn't always there when the deaders ask for help. They also turn to Tru to ask for help. If he was even close to having the same "purpose" as Tru I think the deader would address both of them.

My theory is that Jack is an agent of fate. It isn't so much that he is evil as that he thinks things should follow a certain course. Screwing with Harrisson's love life just makes up for all the times that Tru has saved it.
