True Grit (movie review)

I didn't see a True Grit thread, so I'm creating one.

I saw this today at a matinee, enjoying my Federal Holiday (MLKJR FTW). It was very good. I normally don't watch Westerns and I certainly don't read them.

The scenery and back drop of the movie was great. Casting and acting was superb, as well.

The lead, the young, tough-as-nails girl was perfect. LaBeauf, Matt Damon, was an excellent contrast to Ole Cogburn.

Cogburn played by Jeff Bridges was a bit of grizzled old bear, but you had to love him anyway. This is the second Jeff Bridges movie I've seen this month, but he really gets into this role.

The action, however, was a bit slow for me. I am used to visual effects movie that delight the eye, but bore the brain, until the final end battle.

In True Grit I was never bored, but I never got that satisfying 'everything-is-right-again' feeling.

In True Grit, the end was a bit anticlimactic to me. I would be spoiling it to tell you why.
