True neutral druids and spell descriptors

First Post
Greetings.

The 3.5 rules state that druids can't cast spells opposed by their alignment. So a NG druid can't cast evil spells and a LN druid can't cast chaotic spells.

But what about true neutral druids? (with a TN deity) Can they cast spells of ALL alignments or have they to choose one "opposed" alignment? (like neutral clerics who have to choose to either turn or rebuke undead)

Thanks for any advice

They can cast spells of all alignments, but there's a danger. Since casting an aligned spell is considered an act of that alignment, using such spells too much might shift them away from neutral.

Not much of a danger... you could always just cast an evil spell to balance out the good you cast earlier in the week, and even if you mess it up enough to change alignment you'd have to mess up both the law/chaos axis and the good/evil axis at the same time to reach a prohibited alignment.

I'm having a hard time thinking of any aligned druid spells anyway.

Probably there are some in the splatbooks, but I don't think there are any core aligned druid spells.

Is there a source on that?

Summon Nature's Ally can be Good, Evil, or Chaotic (but interestingly, not Lawful :) ).

Don't forget Contagion.

Strangely, Poison doesn't have the [Evil] Descriptor.... which has room for Maximized and Reach Spell pre-Epic..... although there's probably better things to layer on. Perhaps Twinned and Reach?

are you sure? doesent it say you can summon creatures aposed to your alighnment? perhaps this means an evil druid cant summon a unicorn, Or maybe its a two step thing so only good creatures can summon unicorns.

Not so. Summon nature's ally does not acquire the descriptor of creatures you summon.

I'll grant you that there's room for argument on Summon Nature's Ally I and Summon Nature's Ally II.

But I must disgree with you on Summon Nature's Ally III, Summon Nature's Ally IV, Summon Nature's Ally V, Summon Nature's Ally VI, Summon Nature's Ally VII, Summon Nature's Ally VIII, and Summon Nature's Ally IX.
