Why not just teleport if you have the capability of casting true resurection?

Because you don't have the Travel domain, you silly person.

(Just don't ask me to rationalize not using word of recall.)

I almost did this in a 3E game. Our party obtained a powerful sun-artifact that caused massive devastation in a 1 mile radius (think arcane atom bomb). We were tasked with destroying a castle full of vampires, and this artifact would work nicely, but the trick is that a person had to activate the artifact at ground zero and hence sacrifice themselves.

We ALMOST came to the point where I was handing my items to the party high cleric, and telling him my truename and personal details, so he could resurrect me after the party teleported out and I stayed behind to blow the vampires to Kingdom Come. :)

Why not just teleport if you have the capability of casting true resurection?
I wasn't posting to find out if it was the best tactic ever.
I just wanted to know if it could be possible.
Mainly as a last resort.

An besides, a True Res could trascend planes.

I'm using this spell also as a gauge to look at the teleport spells in general.
Because, as it is it can function at (ironically) a poor man's planar shift + teleport.
But not quite because you must know place and time of death.
Or somehow unambigously identify (UI) the soul (or whatever).
I wonder what other ways of UI are...
