True shadows are shadowy inhabitants living in the Plane of Shadow, shadowing unlucky visitors and attacking them from the shadows. Composed solely from the shadowy essence of the Shadow Plane, true shadows are corrupt and shadowy in their dealings with those from planes other than the Plane of Shadow.
COMBAT
True shadows lurk in the shadows, waiting for living prey to happen by.
Strength Damage (Su): The touch of a true shadow deals 1d6 points of temporary strength damage to a living foe. A creature reduced to Strength 0 by a true shadow dies.
Create Spawn (Su): Any humanoid reduced to Strength 0 by a true shadow becomes a shadow under the control of its killer within 1d4 rounds.
Undead: Immune to mind-influencing effects, poison, sleep, paralysis, stunning, and disease. Not subject to critical hits, subdual damage, ability damage, energy drain, or death from massive damage.
Incorporeal: Can be harmed only by other incorporeal creatures, +1 or better magic weapons, or magic, with a 50 % chance to ignore any damage from a corporeal source. Can pass through solid objects at will, and own attacks pass through armor. Always moves silently.
Shadow Blend (Su): In any conditions other than full daylight, a true shadow can disappear into the shadows, giving it nine-tenths concealment. Artificial illumination, even a light or continual flame spell, does not negate this ability. A daylight spell, however, will.
Evasion (Ex): If exposed to any effect that normally allows a character to make a Reflex saving throw for half damage (such as a fireball), a true shadow takes no damage on a succesful saving throw.

Firstly- ya gotta change the name. Shadow Shadow reminds me of Little Ceasar's Pizza ("Pizza Pizza"). If it stalks its victims and attacks from the shadows, why not call it the Shadow Stalker or something.

Secondly, its type should be Undead, not Magical Beast. This seems to be nothing more than a typo as you didn't give it a Con score and did in fact assign it the undead's Hit Die type.

Other than the shadow blend ability, this guy doesn't seem to be anything more than a mere shadow. Why not give him some different and varied abilities. For example, using your concept of attacking from the shadows, why not give it these:

Shadow Blend (as you have it)
Sneak Attack (+2d6 damage)

I myself would probably lose the Str damage and Create Spawn special attacks (definately the Str damage one) as this makes it really nothing more than a shadow. Of course, if that is what you are going for ....cool. Just add the sneak attack special attack and change its name.

Grazzt: I think he just hit a normal shadow with the shadow template (from MotP), but I agree with you none the less, I allways thought it was stupid that the shadow templated creature became a magical beast even if it was undead to start with. It just doesn't make sense.

Psychgnome: I would suggest adding the changes that Grazzt suggested, but keep the drain and create spawn abilities. Also I would suggest adding one more HD (giving it 4d12) and giving it either Evasion or the ability to cause fear once per day. also I would change the name to True Shadow.

:p Fine, I'll make the changes... it struck me as odd also that the shadow template turned anything into a magical beast, but as this is nothing but a silly experiment, it really didn't matter...

Funny that this should resurface.... I one if I should bump the azure dragon thread, only has like 2 responses. But It has 30 something downloads :D
