I am afraid I don't have that issue. Can anyone ellaborate for me?

You can perform the disarm action with a selected missile weapon. That's all I've got for ya at the moment... I'm at work right now.

That tactic is most effectively used as a fighter/wizard with either Improved Disarm or a reach weapon. That way, you're designed to hold your own in melee and you don't provoke an AoO.

If a wizard without fighter levels and without some way of avoiding the AoO (by a strict reading of the rules, Shield would work as it provides 75% cover) who tries this is just dumb. A kobold sor 2 who attempts this (without the shield spell) is more likely to be killed by the AoO than anything else. Now, if they were made kobold Bbn 1/Sor 1s or Ftr 1/Sor 1s, that would be a different story (because they'd have the hp to survive more than one attack in while toe to toe with PCs).

If the guy you are disarming has a spare weapon, you are spending two actions in exchange for one MEA, at best.

Worst still, you are probably provoking an AoO.

It is a cute tactic in the right situation, especially if you are desperate just to slow someone down. Hardly abusive at all.

Grunts can cause similar havoc even more easily against wands, rods, and staves.

Well, the PC's are melee weak so disarming would give the leader more chances to unleash his spell selection before dying. With 16 dex, mage armor, and shield they'll have AC24 vs the AO's. The figher wields a mw katana and he has 14 str so it's only +7 to hit and 1d10+2 damage Kobold Sor2's should have about 8 hp using my NPC method. Decent chance of sucking up a lucky AO and still living. The PC doesn't have combat reflexes yet either, so I think the two Kobolds will be decent. It's not meant to kill them, just get them thinking and using different tactics then cleave.

Or grabs the wizard by the robes for being silly enough to engage him in melee then thinking a little thing like not having a sword is going to prevent him from sticking him full of holes with his spiked armor and dagger.

Heh, my PC who does this is a 6th level fighter in +1 full plate and a +1 shield, plus a level of wizard. true strike has no somatic component. :)

He also has Power Attack and Expertise for added true strike fun.

Jeremy-

Just use Spectral Hand, then True Strike then disarm the punk :)

The best way to us a ranged disarm is with a reach weapon, or if you want to also go into a cool prestige class use the spiked chain. But, for the true strike/disarm thing it is perfectly legal, but why do that when you can just trip them. If you are going to go that far why not just use a slashing weapon and sunder his frickin weapon, now they cant just go pick it up and beat the living crap out of you.

The problem with sunder is twofold:
1. It destroys weapons that you want to loot.
2. It's hard for low strength characters to average high enough damage to succeed at a sunder attempt. (It takes 10 hp of damage just to beat the hardness of most weapons. A character with a 14 strength and a glaive (I believe that's the only non-exotic sunder capable reach weapon) won't average that high without power attacking. Even then, his odds to destroy the weapon in one blow aren't that good. True Strike+Disarm doesn't have that strength problem.

The problem with trip is also twofold.
1. It's size based. A kobold with a 16 strength has only 50/50 odds of tripping a human with an 8 strength. That rules trip out for small characters.
2. It's an opposed strength check. That means that, against melee opponents your size (most of whom have at least a 14 strength), you'll rarely have more than a 70% chance (18 strength with a trip weapon like a guisarm, or flail) to succeed at the trip attempt.

Disarm doesn't suffer from either of these problems. There's no bonus for being bigger--only for using a bigger weapon and True Strike can more than make up for that. . . .
