True Strike

So you wouldn't question the DM who allowed above-mentioned Item in the game.

If it was a really epic game? No. If it was a sub-epic game? Yes. You're still misunderstanding. I agree with you that such an item (if we are correct in what warpmind wants) has no place in a non-epic game, but what I disagreed with was your initial claim that...

There's absolutely no way you'd get me (or any other sane DM) to allow such a thing.

That was a pretty general statement, and you didn't make yourself clear originally. You've clarified yourself since then, so I get where you're coming from now. :)

I definitely DON'T WANT to use it anyway. I simply realized that it was possible using the DMG rules to make such an item and that seems absurd to me. I just wanted to show an example of how badly done are the item creation rules.

But that's just the point. It's not absurd at all to create such an item. The magic item formulas are just guidelines, not hard and fast rules. Magic item creation is an art, not a science, so it takes a lot more work than just doing the math.

You could build such an item, and I would probably follow the suggestion mentioned above, which is to price the item based upon what it actually does, which is grant a +20 insight bonus to all attacks (effectively). Basically, that would cost you about 4,000,000gp, and that doesn't even include the negation of concealment. Is it even balanced there? Not sure. Haven't playtested it before. :)

A true strike item doesn't really work very well unless there is some kind of limiting factor, such as 1) activation time, 2) limited charges, 3) limited uses per day, or any combination of these. More than likely, you'll always end up including limiting factor 1 to smooth out the item for playbalance. YMMV

I can see it now .... a Portable Hole full o' Poop! Fling it at your enemies! Amaze and entertain your friends! Encourage irratating Halflings to leave you alone! :D

Oh my. I seriously hope that our party druid never hears the terms "Portable Hole full o' Poop" and "Halflings" within an hour of each other. He doesn't like halflings. No, that's not right. He HATES halflings, and I he knew that was an option he probably take our portable hole, dump all our stuff out, feed his dire elephant lot's of stuff and let him crap into the hole which le lay down on the bottom.
And then, he'd get some halflings, throw them in the hole and take it away....

I'll ask you once again to forego the insults.

I don't mean to stir up a hornet's nest here or anything, but that was not intended as an insult. Sorry you took it that way, but it was meant to be a humorous challenge for you to show your point of view. Was it a bit crass? Probably, and if that was offensive to you, then I apologize. :o However, it was not a personal dig. I hope you see the difference. :)

EDIT: Hey, at least I now know what you don't find humorous, so I now know what not to say to you. :)
