True Strike

We both agree that such an Item is quite expansive and is just far out of range for every "normal" campaign.

+20 to hit, use-activated, free action, unlimited charges? Absolutely, we agree. I just didn't agree with your baseless claim about sanity.

True strike is nice. I just finished up the first session with a custom archer PrC of mine, who had the ability to do the true strike thing 5/day. It was limited by requiring a full-round action to activate and fire the arrow, but it was still very nice. Especially combined with called shot, to emulate Power Attack out to a range of 165 ft with a Far Shotted composite bow. Came in very handy when fighting the uberboosted death slaad with AC 42 and a dancing halberd.

Mind you, he still kicked our butts anyway. One round I'm at full health and sniping away at him at range. The next round I'm down to -7 hp and bleeding to death. This was after he took both our tanks down, knocked out the rogue/ninja, blinded the wizard, and killed the NPC druid's dire lion.

:p

While I can certainly see this stopping a lot of headaches, don't you and your players find this somewhat ... limiting?

I've never had a single complaint.

Makes you wonder why they put all those feats and item creation plugs into the PH. You sure you're not just talkin' outta your arse?

Each of the item creation feats in the PH explicitly says "See the Dungeon Master's Guide for descriptions of rods [et. al.], the prerequisites associated with each one, and their prices."

They do not refer the player to the "creating new items" guidelines. The item creation feats are quite rewarding enough in giving access to those items already given full descriptions.

I'll ask you once again to forego the insults.

kreynolds - stop it. You know you're misbehaving. If you can't refrain from copping an attitude when you post (posts that are usually helpful), don't post to the thread at all. I'm tired of my email getting flooded with complaints about your post's general sneering attitude.

Also, at the same time, folks, don't abuse the reporting system. If you have long-term issues with another poster, there is an Ignore Poster option. In extreme cases, I strongly suggest using it.

The only thing I wanted to state is that item creation rules are not complete enough because they allow the creation of items like this. I personally think that the inclusion of some pages including full item creation rules in the DMG (or at least in the Dragon magazine) would have been very useful, because I don't like to forbid the creation of an item to my players or to make it more expensive just because I want so.

Just the way I don't need to be careful about the feats or spells my PCs choose (at least that in the PHB) because the rules make them little or no unbalancing at all I would like to not have to do that with items they create. Just this.

I sent you an email about this, but I'll go ahead and apologize for the 3rd comment in my 3rd post here as well. It was kinda harsh.

Everyone knows Swords +1 are a dime a dozen. But lets see your party leave home without their Portable Latrine (now with plumbing!). :D

I thought that was what the portable hole was for :D

Player: "I go into the shop and buy boots and a cloak of elvenkind."
DM: "They don't have it."
Player: "They aren't available anywhere! But I want them! What can I do?"
DM: "Take that item creation feat and make them yourself."

So you wouldn't question the DM who allowed above-mentioned Item in the game. Even at that high price? Unless it's an epic campaign (I don't know what warpmind had in mind, but I think he wanted that for a 20th or lower-level character. But that's only specualtion until he tells us) this Item is just out of question.
