Thought it was rather blah mix of X-Files and CSI, except using psuedo-science psychobabble. With not very good ratings I doubt if it'll last beyond a season.

I DVR'ed it and watched it last night. An obvious super-science X-Files ripoff. Some parts were wonky and rushed but I'll at least check out ep2.

Interesting, apparently it was supposed to be a German plane with a German crew. But none of the actors actually knew English, as one could hear by their accent, pronunciation and grammar (one of the last sentences of the pilot stands out). :)

The characters and acting weren't too bad. However, the egregiously blatant bad science stucks in my craw.

If you're going to do science fiction, either get the science right, or be vague about it. If you try to actually justify in real-world terms, all you do is sound really stupid to anyone who knows the sciences.

Well, the focus on the show is on Fortean Fringe science, which is egregiously blatant bad science by its very nature. But can make for entertaining television.

I liked the actress playing the lead, and thought she makes for a believable FBI agent (or "liaison"). There's something about her look which keeps her away from being too distractingly Hollywood pretty.

Abrahms has mentioned he's learned some lessons from his other shows and Fringe will be more episodic and less serial in nature. Still, there has to be some attention paid to the over arcing conspiracy plot... we'll see how well the mystery and frustration levels are balanced.
