TV shows and their spinoffs

Actually, the Lone Ranger and Green Hornet were originally linked via radio:

from Old Time Radio's The Lone Ranger

"The Lone Ranger debuted on January 30, 1933, and was last heard on radio on September 3, 1954. It was created by Fran Striker and George W. Trendle; these men also created The Green Hornet. They continued the Lone Ranger connection into the new show. The Green Hornet, Brett Reid was the great nephew of the Lone Ranger, (grandson of Dan Reid)."

It was never actually stated that they were related in any of the television series.

I'm not for sure if Penny Marshall was on Blanksy's Beauties or not. If she was, it was a brief appearance. I do know that Eddie Mekka, who played Carmine on Laverne & Shirley, played Joey DeLuca on Blansky's Beauties.

The clip I saw showed Marshall dressed as Laverne (with the "L" on her sweater) standing in front of a black screen talking to the camera. There was no sound in the clip (as far as I remember), and the words "Blansky's Beauties", along with the year, was on the bottom of the screen.

Never saw the actual show, myself.

And here's another spin-off:

Knight Rider ---> Team Knight Rider

What about the Remakes of UK shows...

Just to add another spanner

The Three's Company ---> The Ropers; Three's a Crowd line
was based on the original (and much funnier) BBC set of
Man about the House- George and Mildred, Robin's Nest

Till Death Us Do Part was the original UK version of All in the Family

Actually I just checked Google and Heres a List

Law&Order->L&O:Criminal Intent->L&O:Special Victims Unit
CSI->CSI Miami
X-Men-> X-Men: Evolution
Pokemon-> Pokemon:Johto->Pokemon:Master Quest (what can I say, I used to be an anime freak.)
And I'm betting we ALL wish we could forget the never-ending stream of POWER RANGERS series... *Shudder*

I'm not even going to go into the Hordes of Reality TV shows that sprang up after Survivor hit the scene... Big Brother, Fear Factor, etc, etc,

As for best Spin-off... hmm... I'ld have to say my fave is DBZ, followed by Angel.

The original Dutch Big Brother came first, all the rest of the reality shows are based off it. The USA was late getting a Big Brother show and it didn't do well, I guess Survivor had stolen its wind.

>Happy Days ---> Laverne & Shirley; Joanie Loves Chachi; Mork & Mindy<

Don't forget that Laverne & Shirley also spun off into... I wanna say it was called "Carmine"? Not sure, but it featured "the Big Ragoo", Carmine, in his quest to become a Broadway star. It only ran for a few episodes (don't even see it listed, oddly, in IMDB).

>Different Strokes ---> The Facts of Life<

Wasn't "Facts of Life" created independently of "Diff'rent Strokes?" Didn't they just cross over?

>Beverly Hills 90210 ---> Melrose Place (later, Melrose Place ---> Models Inc.)<

Again, I wouldn't say "Melrose" was a BH spinoff- it was created independently of BH, but simply used a cameo appearance by Grant Show (MH's Jake) to hype the new show. Does that count as a spinoff?
