Twisted Infinity: Trial of Contention

In an instant Shifter's form flows away into a new body, that of a Gold Dragon, and he leaps for the creature.

Shift to Gold Dragon form (see above post) as a move action, partial charge with reach 20', bite attack hoping to start grapple.

Ata tries to fight off the despair and fear that flods his mind and soul, barely stifiling the sobs that threaten to wrack his small frame. He tries to move in on his enemy, hoping to flank with Glangim and attacks with a flurry of blows.

"Oh no ye don't!" he exclaims, moving as quickly as a dwarf, he closes the distance between himself and the creature, moving in alongside Ata, "I be with ya brother." Resolve swings across in an arc towards the creature.

OOC: Charging in, hopefully to a flanking position with Ata; Moradin's Resolve +28 (+2 if flanking, +2 charge) +4 adamantine warhammer collision, sure striking (-5 DR), ghost touch (1d8+19, 20/x3)

Dimitri, 205/205hp

F/R/W: +25/+13/+33

Active Abilities:
--Aura of Warding (allies within 10' gain +2 to Will saves)
--Heightened, Widened Continual Flame (via Lightbringer)
--Magic Circle/Evil

Dimitri momentarily reels under the onslaught. Recovering from the waves of fear, he grasps his metamagic rod and hammers the foul creature with a Maximized Flame Strike

OOC: Sorry for the late reply. I tried to post this morning but was having issues connecting to EnWorld.

As the memory of being caught by the spiders washes over her and gives her goose flesh, Elly lets her voice ring in a song she hasn't sung for awhile, but that comes immediately back to her. It starts slowly, and you can't quite grasp the words, but it already feels refreshing, as the first raindrops after a long walk in the sun. Then it grows, and you start to feel all the power of Elly's voice, hitting you like a storm, infusing you with energy, making your thoughts become more focused and your blood pump faster, filling you with bravery. The notes wash over you like a thunderstorm, the lower tones reaching you from within, from your bones, thank to the link you share with her, the higher reverberating in the room, coming from everywhere, each of them strengthened by her magic, as if a whole orchestra was somehow barely contained in her little body. If you ever heard about Elly, now you know her fame was deserved.

Enya - Storms in Africa - Watermark

OOC: This is, quite obviously, inspire courage. Everyone gets a +4 morale bonus to attack and damage, and +4 morale bonus to saves vs fear and charm. But since no one failed his saves, there's nothing to retcon. Wrahn, I guess the Mind Blank effect on Elly expired, since she's no longer immune, right? BTW, since I'm the last one to post and the first to act in the round, this is my action for the next round as well: I keep the song up, hovering on Rosie, until IT acts again.

(Sorry I had a horrible time getting on to EN World yesterday afternoon

Elly: You are correct, you are still Mind Blanked (my bad) so you are not shaken, the morale bonus versus fear does not stack with Glangim’s morale bonus versus fear so that aspect is correct)

Dimitri calls on Pelor to strike down this abomination. Pelor answers with a column holy fire from the very heart of the sun. (IT) reacts with preternatural quickness and avoids a direct strike.

(Dimitri’s Roll to overcome spell resistance total: 41
It made it’s save. Damage 45)

Tares reaches out with magic and finds the spell won’t touch it

(Tares roll to overcome Spell Resistance total: 32)

Shifter’s head snakes out, but not far enough, snapping uselessly in the air.

(Shifter’s Bite Attack: natural 1 (sorry) Snatch can only be used on a creature three sizes smaller (in this case a small creature) (IT) is large)

Ata charges forward, but one of the huge spider legs holding it aloft lashes out, striking from above, attempting to pin Ata to the ground.

Ata proceeds forward and strikes the giant spider leg. Though there is some effect, it is like striking stone.

((IT) successfully strike Ata with an attack of opportunity provoked by the charge (I know charge does not provoke an attack of opportunity, but it did in this case.) Ata take 14 points of damage.
Grapple fails because of the Ring of Freedom of movement.
Damage rolled is 8 + 13 for 21 minus some unknown amount of damage reduction (lessen by 5 because of sure striking)

Glangim charges forward and as Ata before him, one of the gigantic spider legs lashes out worming it’s way through Glangrim’s surprised defenses.

The leg attempt to pin Glangim, but Glangim bats it away with his shield

He rushes forward, Moradin’s Resolve landing heavily on one of the legs.

((IT) strikes Glangrim for 10 points of damage (total of 3 with the damage reduction)
Glangims Grapple check: 43
Glangim’s attack roll 40
Damage 25 minus some unknown amount of damage reduction)

(Next round the Ata and Glangim should be able to flank (IT))

(IT)s spider legs set it down on the ground next to Ata. The damage to it’s legs begins to fade as it attempts to tear into him, three of the four gigantic legs hit the agile monk, but he is able to minimize the damage.

(IT) holds it’s arms wide revealing the palms of it’s hands have mouths in them. Mouths filled with horrifically serrated teeth. It closes it’s hands on Ata running it’s hand down his chest, leaving a trail of ripped stoney flesh in it’s wake.

(Three hits with the legs for 9, 16 and 17. All the pinning attacks fail because of the ring of freedom of movement. The hands do 6 and 5 more damage also inflicts a total of 2 Negative Energy levels and 4 points of Con Damage. Negative Energy Level make Ata lose Ressurection and Monster Summoning VII. Total damage from the attacks is 99 (53 from physical abuse, 10 from losing energy levels, 36 from losing 4 Con)

Gods, this thing is tough thinks Tares, who´s been used to finish everything e found in a matter of seconds for too long. His surprise extends to his companions as well, before realizing it´s time to call the big guns. In his winged form, he concentrates, gathers magical energy, and suddendly the room explodes with horrific booms.

[Let´s see if this works. Cast a Twin Empowered Scorching (sonic) Ray, using an 8th level slot.
That should make 6 rays, to hit bonus is +16, damage 4d6x1,5 each, bonus to pierce SR is +26.]

Hmm... I though it was large enough to avoid the penalty, being 15 feet tall and all; I quote the SRD:
If your target (or the part of your target you’re aiming at, if it’s a big target) is at least 10 feet away from the nearest friendly character, you can avoid the –4 penalty, [for shooting into a melee] even if the creature you’re aiming at is engaged in melee with a friendly character.

But if it´s not large enough, then cast a Twin Sonicball, using mastery of shaping to avoid hitting the dwarves (and Shifter, of course) Edit: save DC 26.

(OOC: (IT) has reach from the legs, but it's hands (with all the nasty energy drains and Con Damage) force it to be right up close and personal-like. It is a composite creature, it's humanoid body is about 7 feet tall, but the huge spider legs push it up to large. So you will take the -4.)
