Two 20s, no 1s - how often do you use altered dice?

Everyone does, even your sainted mother.

But my question is how often do you do it? Once a game for the "important" kill shots, or all the way through?
Eh, I'll assume you're being humorous. No, never done it myself and anyone I caught doing it would get an invite to play elsewhere.

I figured as much. There have been a lot of denials here already, but it's good to see your honesty and agreement.
So you think that everybody cheats, but some don't admit it? What a lousy world you must live in.

Cheating is for...

cheaters.

The only time I would use a 2-20's d20 would be if everyone at the table used them (IE, a game where there is no critical miss, but twice as much chance of a critical success). It would turn a lot of things on their ends though, as this would probably be more of an advantage to the DM since he rolls more dice.

It sounds "fair" and tough, sure. But I have never ever seen anyone asked to leave the game table for a faked dice roll. Not even a dozen weighted rolls..

I've actually kicked two players out of two different campaigns of mine. One for cheating. Ive never caught a player using loaded dice, but now Im paranoid about it. THANKS!

I have to continue the litany. Dungeon Masters can cheat because it's their job to make the game more enjoyable and climatic. Players shouldn't cheat. The game is open-ended, and the point isn't to "win". Now Monopoly, on the other hand...

But if I was DM, I wouldn't reject someone for using loaded dice. It seems too Draconian. I'd take it in good humour and explain to the player why I don't want them cheating. I guess I'm too nice.

The closest thing I've done to cheating in D&D is taking a good D20 roll when it's cocked, and rerolling a bad one in the same situation. But I'm so unlucky, I've earned that.

Because after years of observing you folks at ENwoild, I know that the overwhelming majority of ya are do-gooder, nice-nice, give-em-a-chance, social players. "Immediate ejection" is as likely, given the collective profile here, as becoming a gen-u-wine wizard.

You actually consider "do-gooder, nice-nice" to be equated with acceptance of using weighted dice?

Damn.

I guess I'm lucky.

As both a player and a DM I haven't experienced others in my gaming group use loaded (or biased) dice.
Personally, I find its a little harsh to kick the offending player out... maybe kill the dice, but eh. (sledgehammers work wonders for loaded dice)

I find that while the group I'm with doesn't use loaded dice, a few of us do sometimes fudge rolls. I know that I've done it when I DM, but as I player, I know that I don't do it. Specially since my dice know that I don't tolerate bad rolls (usually the dice that offend me either find themselves in the freezer for a month or two, or they're executed with a sledge hammer - damn I go through lots of dice this way)

I think it comes down to what do you want to get out of the game.

If you and your group are enjoying the game (despite any cheating that may occur) why should this be altered by any one else's opinions?
