Overall, the conventional wisdom is that two-handed power attacking is simpler and more cost-effective. Obviously, certain things change this assessment, like being a rogue and flanking your enemy (as earlier posters mentioned) or trying to power attack an enemy who can't be power attacked (via certain feats.)
