D&D 5E Tyranny of Dragons DMs Screen Pictures

Wow that looks almost useless. All of the core stuff is great, why has this adventure path stuff been so sub par?

D&D is created by a surprisingly small team, and they've farmed out work to 3rd parties in order to focus the team's work on the core books?

In the case of Kobold Press we know they can do great stuff, obviously they were rushed and given some confusing and shifting guidelines while writing
Tyranny of Dragons. I still think the AP is pretty cool, it just needs a lot of DM revising and tweaking.

As for the Gale Force 9 stuff, they make good looking materials at least. This DM screen really does look thrown together and kind of pointless though.

I like their spell cards idea, but this DMG screen is a poor idea imo. I would never use it compared to the proper generic one with all the useful gaming stuff on it. I suspect this will be the first and last of these adventure based screens.

Spell cards isn't Wotcs idea, it was some fans back during the 3.x days. They started using a tool for making cards for MtG and other TCGs (I believe it was Magic Set Editor) and were getting very popular until Wotc hit them with the decease and desist legal letters. Wotc then played wack-a-mole with the fans posting files for spellcards. Eventually Wotc released their own printed version of the spellcards, since it was really obvious that there was a market for it.

Of course, in the old days (1st ed) we used to write our spells onto index cards by hand and use that, so even the computerized version was only a media shift. ;)

TSR actually put out spell index cards of their own for 2nd ed. as well. Not quite in playing card format, but not full recipe index card size either.
They put out wizard, priest and other caster sets.
So definitely not a new idea.

Ok, found the site in the upper right hand corner and clicked. No need for spell cards, I'm a lazy old white man, but not that lazy lol. Plus me nor my players have had any problems finding spells when we need to in the PHB. A waste of good money to me.

The Tokens do look very useful and might buy them. If the Miniatures which look very nice are made in the USA, I'd buy them but the website does not say where they are made.

Scott

That's where GF9 sells its stuff.

I believe the company itself is based in Australia, but I don't know where their minis are cast.
